My play on Rosie the Riveter, the cultural icon for women during World War 2.
My grandmother was a Bomb Girl in England during World War 2, one of the biggest social shifts in history for women. And her name was Beatrice Rose. Rosie the Riveter was a cultural icon representing the millions of women who worked in factories and shipyards during this time. She symbolised women stepping into jobs traditionally held by men while the men were fighting overseas. Rosie was a symbol of female strength. She embodied the idea that "we can do it", showing women as capable, strong, and essential to the war effort.
